In this section we'll be explaining how to take on any Player versus Enemy fight, meaning any fight against the computer. The AI in this game is fairly predictable on its movements, and by following this guide, you can easily destroy any Battle 50 event or Challenge Rush.

Hello, everyone. It's me yet again. This guide was adapted from a lovely guide that a friend of mine created for the /r/DragonBallLegends Discord server, and I'm going to be showing examples of how the AI behaves in order to embarrass that cheating computer.

How Does the AI Work?

So, the AI in this game is quite complex in programming, but simple in theory. Generally speaking, before it attacks, it will do one of two things: tap attack, a tap blast at far range, tackle at mid range, and tap punch at close range, or float to the side or to the back of the arena. Because it is a bot, and not a human, it has a set series of decisions that it can follow depending on what moves you do. Therefore, if you figure out which of your moves directs it to a set of moves that is easily punishable, it is possible to beat any AI in the game with little difficulty. This is generally memorized by many veterans of the game, even if they don't realize what they're doing. However, here, we'll be explaining the majority of the tricks you can use on the AI to get it to show its weaknesses.

Additionally, the AI in this game gets progressively more advanced the further you advance in the story, with the lower chapters rarely if ever attacking you, and with the upper levels being the same programming that Challenge Battles have. Many of the same tactics apply no matter what level you're on, but sometimes baiting the bot to attack you takes far too long on the lower chapters. Interestingly, you can also utilize the bot yourself by clicking the "autoplay" button in any PvE matchup. This is usually only used during long, tedious events (old USTR and Battle 51s), but it can be helpful to see what the bot reacts to and when, as you can more closely pay attention compared to when you are the one controlling the fighter.

Countering the AI's Moves

In this section, we'll be showing a series of moves that are very common to the AI, and a series of moves that are useful against Player versus Player matchups, but awful against bots. They have significantly faster processing time, and therefore immediately punish you, because they love to cheat. For some reason, bots are allergic to vanishing Blast Attacks after you vanish their attack. If you use a Strike Attack, they will most likely vanish you, but as long as you vanish early and click the Blast Card, you will hit with your Blast attack and be able to continue with your combo. As such, aim to keep at least 1 Blast Card or Blast-based Blue Card in your hand when facing bots.

For this video, you'll see that I started the match with a tackle. In PvP, this is a common tactic to bait a vanish. However, never use a tackle against the AI. Why? This is one of the aforementioned hardcoded responses. Whenever you use a tackle the AI will most likely use a Strike Card in order to catch you, or in this case, a Blast Card. Any use of a tackle against a bot will fail.

Instead of starting the match with a tackle, repeatedly side step to bait a vanish and then attack the AI. This is a bit lousy in PvP but very strong against bots.

For this video, I attempted to flat out attack the bot, and it vanished my Blast attack. This was not a Perfect Vanish, so I was able to vanish the bot's blue card. This is a bit of an odd-ball, because sometimes the bot will just sit there and take the attack, but most of the time it will vanish and you can start another attack after vanishing its attack. Note that the tackle I used was met with a Strike Card, as mentioned above.

Instead of trying to attack the bot, try and wait for it to attack you, as it is less like to end with the bot Perfect Vanishing you and disrupting your combos.

strikedance.mp4

This move, where the AI cancels out of a Strike Card when you vanish, only to use either a Strike Card or a Blast Card after the fact, is an extremely common move on the AI's part. It is also extremely useful, as when you move to do the second vanish, you get a free attack after the fact. There have been some cases where the bot does a tackle instead, but either way, you should vanish it and then use a blast attack.

Instead of attacking the bot when it vanishes out of the strike, attack it after the second move, so you will connect the attack, instead of being vanished on.

When the AI attempts to tackle you, and you attack it, it can and will always dodge. It's annoying, it's frustrating, but you gotta dodge. Or else you're going to be in a world of hurt against the Battle 51 bots who just killed a unit. After you dodge the tackle, be sure to use a Blast Attack on it in order to nigh-guarantee a hit. You can also use a Green Card and they will most likely back up, so you can hit them with a Strike Card.

Instead of cancelling a tackle with a Strike, vanish the tackle and attack from the side to avoid being attacked by the bot. Or Rising Rushed in this case.

tapblastpunish.mp4

This is a bit hard to explain, as the bot moves backwards and then tap blasts while I'm in the middle of a Strike Card. This is because the tap blast is considered the beginning of when the bot reacts to your moves, so if you manage to aim your attacks to hit in the portion between the opponent getting up and then using a tap attack, you will almost always hit them without getting hit yourself.

This is the most key tactic against bots in order to cheese your entire encounter with them. The others are helpful if you decide to fight normally, but this is the easiest method of attacking and defeating a bot.

Now, these tactics are all well and good, but what can you actually do with them? The answer is fairly simple, but sometimes hard to wrap your head around: you can nearly solo entire events with any unit that has Card Draw Speed.

Since that's not everyone's cup of tea, you can also practice your sidestepping and charge stepping while annihilating the bot using the below methods.
