Poses, it’s What’s for Breakfast

(Ginyu Force)

The Ginyu Force units are probably one of the best examples of how effective team synergy can be. Akin to the anime, these units work exceptionally well when fighting alongside each other thanks to a plethora of tag dependant unique abilities.

The Ginyu Force units all rely on being run with other Frieza Force units to maximise their damage output and in some cases, their defensive capabilities too. They benefit from insane Z abilities at 6* and also have access to very strong & exclusive equipment choices – making them a hard hitting, faced pace and intense team to come up against.

Getting your hands on the units to make the team itself is a fairly easy matter. If you’ve been a long-time player, you’ll recall the 5 original Extreme Ginyu Force units were available to grind to 3* thanks to their Sizzling Summer Bootcamp event almost 2 years ago. However, since then, the Ginyu Force units have been on almost every banner as filler units – it’s likely that you’ll have pulled them to fairly high stars by now just by passively summoning for other units.

The Quick View

EX PUR Ginyu

The inspiring leader of the Ginyu Force, this unit will be your core purple for the Ginyu Force team. Captain Ginyu has a very versatile kit in which he is able to increase his allies’ damage, deal reliable damage himself, increase his own ki/card draw speed & lock in an enemy and himself to create a deathmatch scenario. His damage type is impartial to both blast and strike which means no matter your team composition, all of his attacks will be hard hitting.

His Arrival of the Elite Force ability increases his own damage on switch in by 35% and ki recovery by 30% for 20 counts. If he’s ran with his Ginyu Force team, he will also get reduced arts card cost + draw a special skill card which increases his card draw speed and allies’ ki recovery when used for 10 counts.

He also has support abilities similar to that of SP Cooler (Blu) wherein he buffs allies damage and critical chance on switch out. His Reliable Captain ability increases Ginyu Force ally damage by 30% and critical rate by 15%, this additional damage really wasn’t needed but its perfectly welcome on an already hard hitting team.

Ginyu is one of the few units in the game with an Ultimate Skill. Upon using your main ability you will draw the Body Change attack and also lock you and your opponent in for 10 counts. This ranged attack deals a fair amount of damage but it is especially useful to snipe element GRN units or to clear your opponent’s buffs.

Z III - +28% to "Tag: Frieza Force" base Strike & Blast Attack during battle.

Z IV - +30% to "Tag: Frieza Force" base Strike & Blast Attack during battle.

EX Ginyu holds one normal strike card and one normal blast card in his team hand when used in battle. Additionally, neither strike nor blast have any special effects when used by him.

His blue card, Milky Cannon, a blast type blue, inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "-50% Ki Recovery" for 10 counts if it hits.

For his green card, Fighting Pose, a buff type green, EX Ginyu strikes a valiant stance as he raises the morale of himself and his partners by granting 30% Ki Recovery for 10 counts for all allies, as well as increasing his own Arts Card Draw Speed by 1 for 10 counts as well.

EX Ginyu's ultimate skill, Body Change, cancels the opponent's Attribute Upgrades on hit, as well as having a unique animation for this ranged type move.

EX YEL Burter

A hard hitting, hard to catch, flashy character and your primary YEL core option for Ginyu Force. Burter is notoriously known for his strike damage & his nuke special move which has very high damage potential from the get go – this is one character whose legs you really don’t want to be under.

You can be hard to catch if you use Burter’s special move card and main ability well. This is because Burter’s special move restores 40% of his vanish gauge on hit and his main ability also increases his vanish gauge recovery speed by 50% for 10 timer counts.

Upon vanishing an enemy attack, his Boastful Speed unique ability increases Burter’s card draw speed by 1 for a short duration (5 counts) and also increases his special move damage by 20% - this can stack up to 60%. This ability is really designed to make Burter a deadly counter attack unit to further punish your enemies after they miss an attack.

If ran with 2 other Frieza Force units, he can get 45% extra strike damage inflicted and 35 cost special move cards thanks to his Blue Hurricane of the Ginyu Force unique ability. This vastly increases his nuking ability thanks to the strike damage buff and reduce cost. (Considering his special move damage scales with his strike damage buffs).

His blue card, Mach Kick, is a strike type blue, and restores his Vanish Gauge by 40% on hit, making him a very annoying opponent to approach.

For his green card, Fighting Pose, a buff type green, EX Burter strikes his usual cocky stance, and grants himself 20% Strike Damage Inflicted and 30% Ki Recovery for 20 counts.

EX BLU Recoome

Akin to the anime, Recoome is a brute of a tank and a very troublesome unit to get rid of. This is thanks to his high health, high defensive stats, team healing main ability and his gradual self-healing upon falling below 50% health.

Recoome is your only true defensive option on the Ginyu Force line-up, his Tough Body ability increases his sustained damage cut by 10% per Frieza Force battle member on his team, this doesn’t have to be on a cover change – meaning he will tank for you even if your opponent successfully drops combo against you. This ability also increases his strike damage by 10% per Frieza Force member when he enters the battlefield – this ability is able to stack which means over time, Recoome will be continually dealing more strike damage to hit harder.

His No More Games ability is when Recoome starts to get serious, upon falling below 50% hp, Recoome gains a 30% strike damage inflicted buff, his strike damage really starts to shine and Recoome can pull off some devastating combos. He also gains a gradual health restore buff to self. For the rest of the game Recoome will continually restore a bit of HP every timer count (provided the enemy doesn’t cancel this buff). If you are able to sub him out for a fair amount of timer counts, you will notice your trusty tank will switch back in with a nice extra chunk of HP.

His blue card, Recoome Eraser Gun, is a blast type blue, and inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "-1 Arts Card Draw Speed" for 15 counts when it hits.

For his green card, Fighting Pose, a buff type green, EX Recoome shows off his mighty muscles and inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "-50% Health Restoration" and reduces their Ki by 25.

RED Ginyu Goku

The unit that very quickly replaced EX Jeice RED on the core of the Ginyu Force team. This free, farmable unit (up to 14*) is a rather unique unit in the way his kit operates. Akin to the anime, Ginyu is struggling to handle Goku’s body and as such, you must manage the use of green cards to overcome the negative damage increase to self and turn them into stackable buffs instead.

His main ability, Now then, let's give this a test run... is very useful to steal up to your opponent’s dragon balls. He also draws himself a special skill card which does a lot: increases strike damage, blast damage & Ki recovery by 5%. These buffs are infinitely stackable and also last the whole game provided the opponent doesn’t clear your buffs. His green card also cancels his own attribute downgrades & restores health by 5% - something vital to overcoming his gradual negative damage increase to self no thanks to his Unmanageable Body gradual unique ability. This increases the damage he takes himself by up to 30%, although it usually isn’t a problem as he has many ways to get his hands on a green card to clear these debuffs.

His Ginyu Force, Captain Ginyu! ability increases the strike damage your whole enemy team takes by 30% once Goku (Ginyu) switches in. He also reduces your opponents Ki by 25 and increases his own strike damage by 20% if he is fighting alongside another Frieza Force member or Frieza Saga (Z) unit – this includes the Ginyu Force of course.

Z I - +22% to "Tag: Frieza Force" or "Episode: Frieza Saga (Z)" base Strike Attack during battle.

Z II - +24% to "Tag: Frieza Force" or "Episode: Frieza Saga (Z)" base Strike Attack during battle.

Z III - +29% to "Tag: Frieza Force" or "Episode: Frieza Saga (Z)" base Strike Attack during battle.

Z IV - +32% to "Tag: Frieza Force" or "Episode: Frieza Saga (Z)" base Strike Attack during battle.

Ginyu Goku holds one normal strike card and one normal blast card in his team hand when used in battle. Additionally, neither strike nor blast have any special effects when used by him.

His blue card, Milky Cannon, is a blast type blue, and inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "-80% Ki Recovery" for 5 counts when it hits. Additionally, it can be taught to Shallot.

For his green card, I'll Show You!, Ginyu Goku cancels his own Attribute Downgrades, and restores his health and Ki by 5% and 5 respectively, as well as gaining 5% Strike Damage Inflicted, Blast Damage Inflicted, and Ki Recovery, which do not expire but can be removed.

EX GRN Guldo

EX Guldo is mostly used on this team over any other unit for his fantastic Z Ability that meshes very nicely with that of GRN Ginyu's, allowing for the team to survive. However, on the battlefield he doesn't do too much other than as a heavy debuffer, with some other support utility as well.

Built as a support for the Ginyu Force team, Guldo has a hard time catching up to the other units, but excels in causing enough debuffs to your opponent that the other team members can easily tear through them. However, as your numbers begin to dwindle, it may be best to have him sacrifice himself for the other team members, even if it goes against his nature.

He also has Ki Recovery and Vanish Gauge buffs whenever he is on this team in the form of There ain't nothing for it..., which makes him a decent choice for stalling for time when trying to defeat a key unit or just to wait for the substitution counts to reset on yours. He also draws a special arts card on cover change, while making his own substitution count shorter in Desperate Decision.

Z I - +12% to "Tag: Frieza Force" max base Health during battle.

Z II - +15% to "Tag: Frieza Force" max base Health during battle.

Z III - +20% to "Tag: Frieza Force" max base Health during battle.

Z IV - +22% to "Tag: Frieza Force" max base Health during battle.

EX Guldo holds two normal blast cards in his team hand when used in battle. Additionally, strike cards have a 50% chance to inflict Poison and blast cards a 30% chance to inflict Paralyze when used by him.

His blue card, Psycho Javelin, a ranged type blue, has a 40% chance to inflict Heavy Bleed when it hits.

For his green card, Fighting Pose, EX Guldo tries his best to be intimidating and inflicts all opponents with 2 substitution counts, as well as granting his blast cards an additional 10% chance to inflict Paralyze on hit for 15 counts.

EX Guldo's ultimate skill, Bind, is a complete AoE attack, meaning that it cannot be dodged using traditional methods, and inflicts the opponent with Heavy Immobilize when used.

GRN Ginyu

The Ginyu Force team are struggling for a viable GRN unit. Despite his age, SP GRN Ginyu unit still proves to be more effective than EX GRN Guldo in battle. Guldo just doesn’t have enough presence and damage during battle to warrant a place on the Core. You will be disadvantaged if you bring either of these 2 into battle as they are not as effective as the other Ginyu Force core.

When compared to Guldo, he is the obvious, but reluctant, pick for a GRN Ginyu Force unit from a damage and team support perspective.

Albeit SP Ginyu GRN has a somewhat usable Kit as he received a balance change way before the concept of Zenkai existed. Firstly, his Z Ability is perfect for the Ginyu Force – providing a whopping 23% max base health and a sizeable 32% base strike damage. This outclasses the Z ability that EX GRN Guldo can provide.

Thanks to his 2 unique abilities; Assault: Strike Atk UP + Team (Frieza Force): Blast Atk UP base he can achieve some noticeable damage with a 40% strike damage buff for 30 counts and a 45% blast damage buff when fighting alongside a Frieza Force unit.

Z I - +17% to "Tag: Ginyu Force" max base Health during battle.

Z II - +20% to "Tag: Ginyu Force" max base Health during battle.

Z III - +22% to "Tag: Ginyu Force" max base Health & +28% to "Tag: Frieza Force" base Strike Attack during battle.

Z IV - +23% to "Tag: Ginyu Force" max base Health & +32% to "Tag: Frieza Force" base Strike Attack during battle.

GRN Ginyu holds one normal strike card and one green card in his team hand when used in battle. Additionally, neither strike nor blast have any special effects when used by him.

His blue card, once again Milky Cannon, a blast type blue, inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "+15% Strike Damage Received" for 30 counts when the attack hits. Additionally, it can be taught to Shallot.

For his green card, Fighting Pose, a buff type green, GRN Ginyu joins his EX counterpart in posing for his teammates with the Dance of Happiness and inflicts the opponent with Attribute Downgrade "+20% Blast Damage Received" for 30 counts when it is used.

GRN Ginyu's ultimate skill, Body Change, inflicts the opponent with "-85% Ki Recovery" for 10 counts when it hits as a ranged type move.
